Road Trip...

to SAN FRANCISCO!

We went last year, and had such a good time
that we had to plan another trip!

Last year, we did EVERYTHING!

Walked across the GG Bridge (which I really can't recommend because it is super scary).

Drove to Santa Rosa and watched the Super Bowl at Russian River.

Got trapped in Muir Woods during a rain storm.

Got hot chocolate from Ghirardelli.

Perused the cutest gift shop at Crown & Crumpet.

Rode around on a cable car!!! Super fun!

Ate in Chinatown and had deep fried salt and pepper crab
(recommended by none other than my hero, Anthony Bourdain).

Had awesome sausages at Rosamunde Sausage Grill and beer at Toronado.

Since we did/saw a lot last year, we're trying to
figure out how to best spend our time this year.

To Do List for 2011 Includes:

Dinner at Frjtz (which I knew I wanted to go to the instant I saw it on Holly's blog)

Back to Kara's for more cupcakes...they are delicious!

Get a maple glazed bacon apple donut from Dynamo Donuts.

Ride the cable car again!!

I'm so excited for this trip...it's fun to live in California
because there is always someplace to visit!

Now, I'd love to get any suggestions from my readers
that know S.F. better than me!

Please feel free to leave me a comment with
your recommendations!!!

I'll be forever grateful :)

I remember when you went last year and I know that you guys had a blast! That's great that you have some new things planned and that you're going to do some of the things you liked last time you were there.

I can't wait to read about your adventure!

Ok -- see the pic of the car going down Lombard? (the curly street) I lived in the alley RIGHT NEXT TO IT. Delgado Place. IT WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!

Japan town doesn't take long to walk, but is defiantely worth a look. The gardens of Pacific Heights, I love the restaurants in North Beach and if you want the yummiest burrito ever, head down the penninsula to Redwood City and grab one at Chavez Meat market.

Don't forget the Haight and Castro Street. Two major SF Subcultures must be explored.

Love that city. Love, love, love it.

Have fun. And say Hi to Delgado Place for me!

These pictures are AMAZING! I've only been to SF once, and I was 10, so I'd love to go back soon. Can't wait to hear all about your trip! ;)

I looove San Francisco and I highly recommend that you eat at Firenze By Night. It's a small Italian place and has THE BEST FOOD! Soo good. http://maps.google.com/maps/place?hl=en&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=firenze+by+night+ristorante+san+francisco&fb=1&gl=us&hq=firenze+by+night+ristorante&hnear=San+Francisco,+CA&cid=967421733055926221

The thing I miss the most about living in San Fran is the food. Well, and having a climbing gym. There are a few climbing walls and tons of bouldering here but no gyms.

My bro is a wine importer out there so we went out to eat A LOT. Hands down my two favorite places to eat are NOPA and Papalote. Papalote (on 24th) is the most amazing mexican food and it is so fresh and delicious. NOPA (on Divisadero) is hands down the best of everything. Their flat bread is so good (it is always changing but always better than the last time) and the sopapillas was a cinammon sugar with honey butter sauce. Just looked the menu and it is now a burnt orange caramel. OMG I want it. Little Star is good pizza. There is one on Divisadero and another one in the mission. Tartine's bakery has the best morning buns. It is on Guerrero. If you are there for Sat/Sun morning check out Bar Tartine for their brunch. They do a seasonal french toast with whatever fruits or berries are in at the time. Bar Tartine is on Valencia. Blue bottle has some of the best coffee. You can find several of their locations around the city. If you are back in Ghirardelli Square or in North Beach then check out Lola's. It is a card and stationary shop. I used to work next door to the square I did PR for the PB brands at WSI. Ghirardelli Square (and my old office) are within walking distance to Fisherman's Wharf. Let me know if you want anymore info!

Love your blog and LOVE San Francisco! It is one of my most favorite cities. If you have time, definitely visit Sabella & La Torre at Fisherman's Wharf. They have the best seafood - clam chowder, oysters rockefeller, dungeness crab - it's all amazing!!! Have fun, I'm jealous :)

How about ALCATRAZ! We loved the tour...it was so interesting!
There is also a restaurant in Chinatown called "The Empress of China." It is on an upper floor of a building and you can see out over the streets. The food was really good and the place is kinda quirky.

Thanks to everyone for all of the tips!

We had such little time (and money!) in the city, that we had already decided our food stops. But I did get to Lola that kLl mentioned, and it was so cute! A great little stationery shop tucked at the back of Ghirardelli square.
