i'm in breakfast heaven.

Hash House a Go Go...there are no words to describe how amazing this place is. Made famous {to me at least} by Guy Fieri and Adam Richman, I knew C and I had to make a breakfast stop at the HH located in San Diego. When we arrived at 9:30 am, the line was already out the door. Luckily, the wait was only about 15 minutes. We had long ago decided what we would order: the very famous sage fried chicken and waffle tower! Made up of two fried chicken breasts, four savory bacon waffles, fried leeks, and the most amazing maple syrup reduction imaginable. In the words of Rachel Zoe: I die.

the digs.

the pearl hotel in san diego is one of the cutest little boutique hotels i've ever seen! everything about it was so trendy and fun. we found this place while searching online, and we couldn't have been more pleased with the accommodations, location, and lovely staff. our room even came equipped with our own pet beta fish, named lucy!
there was also a bar/restaurant in the lobby of the hotel, and the food and drinks were so yummy! our hotel package included complimentary cocktails and one free appetizer. the domestic and imported cheese plate was to die for delicious.

I'm trying to do separate posts from my weekend so I don't overload you with a bunch of rambling and lots of pictures in one long, boring post!!!

More to come! I promise I'll stop talking about my birthday soon :)

[almost] wordless wednesday

Riding around Ocean Beach!

I thought it was fitting that my rented red beach cruiser matched
my blue and white striped tank, denim capris, and white sandals!

{B} Earth Day Recap!

preface: I just want to note that I've decided to no longer call my boyfriend the Mystery Man...from here on out, he will be referred to as "C" since that's the first letter of his name. Haha! I know, I'm so clever :)

Ever since I started working at my job, the company has contributed to each employee's birthday by providing a treat for the entire office - whether it be bagels, donuts, cake, ice cream...it's up to the employee! Well, starting in 2010 the company decided to cut birthday celebrations from the budget...boo! I still try to make cupcakes for the office to celebrate birthdays every month, but it's no longer on the company's dollar.

This year, C wanted to bring a cake for my birthday, but I made him promise that it didn't say anything about me on it because I didn't want any controversy or hurt feelings with other employees not getting a celebration...I try to be really diplomatic! Anyway, as you all know, last week was Earth Day so C being the clever boy that he is, decided to write on the cake:

Happy (B) Earth Day!

Get it???! So funny! He also added a sign that had a picture of me in the center of the earth {see below for pictures}! Anyway, it was so sweet and the cake was yummy!

{see 2008 and 2009 work celebrations here}

Surprise!!

Hi everyone! This is Angela's friend Danielle. I wouldn't normally break into a friend's account, but Angela did give me her password & permission to redo her blog whenever I wanted. I really wanted to do this weeks {ok, months} ago, but figured that I should wait and surprise her today.

I hope you like the new look, Angela! It's pink and green, so I know you'll like that.

Happy happy birthday my sweet & wonderful friend. I am pretty sure that I can speak for everyone when I say that we all love you. You are one of the sweetest people I have ever met. I am so lucky to be able to call you a friend.

Love,

D

Movies

Let me just start this post by saying that while I love to watch movies, I really only like to watch the ones that I've already seen numerous times. See, I'm kind of an anxious person, and if I don't know what's going to happen in a movie, then I get all stressed and my palms get sweaty. I also fast forward through parts I have bad feelings about...are any of you like this??!

Here are some movies I just recently watched {some with persuasion from the bf, of course} and enjoyed:

I loved The Proposal! I thought it was the perfect romantic comedy. I also liked that it didn't drag on and on like other movies in the same genre. I adore Sandra Bullock and think she is America's Sweetheart; so genuine, beautiful, and down-to-earth. I also thought that the movie was the perfect mix of funny and heart-wrenching moments.

Let the Right One In is based on a novel by Swedish author, John Ajvide Lindqvist. The story is about a 12-year-old social outcast, Oskar, and his relationship with his new neighbor, Eli. As their relationship grows, Oskar discovers that Eli is a vampire stuck in a little girl's body. The movie isn't scary at all, it's more of a twisted love story. It's tragic, but really beautiful. Does that make sense? Have any of you seen this movie or read the book? I'd be interested in knowing your thoughts if you have.

I finally got around to seeing Up last week. This was one of those movies where I heard it was sad because of the old man so I didn't really want to see it. I'm such a baby. Needless to say, I ended up loving it. The dog, Doug, was my absolute favorite! The story was fast-paced and exciting and there were so many funny lines.

Well, I can honestly say that I never thought I would see Twilight. I have just had no interest in the series. But it came up on Netflix a couple of weeks ago so I thought I'd watch it to see what all the fuss was about. I'm hooked now! I flew through the first one and couldn't wait to see New Moon. Loved it! Prior to these movies, I was the biggest K*risten Stewart hater, but there is something about her portrayal of Bella Swan that makes her endearing. I'm anxiously awaiting the third movie, Eclipse, this summer!

Any other movie recommendations
for this nervous movie watcher??!

{ps - please let me know if you are an anxious movie watcher too...i don't want to be the only one!}
