Week 6: Weigh In

I had my Week 6 weigh in last night. If you read my previous post, you know that I was in Vegas for the weekend. Not a good place to be while you're on WW. Seriously, gluttony is synonymous with Vegas - interchangeable really. Oh well, I went and had a GREAT time! I chose what I thought to be the best options for my lifestyle - salads, sauerkraut, no alcohol, fresh fruits, egg white veggie omelet, etc...

I fared pretty well at WI with a loss of 0.8. Not great, but not too shabby either. I figure that I had lost 1.5 lbs before the trip and added a few ounces back, for the net loss of 0.8. I can't complain because a loss really is a loss!

I am super motivated to do really well this entire week so I can have a guilt free, moderate Valentine's dinner. I only have a {teensy} bit over 3 pounds left until I reach my 10% goal and I would love to see it reached by February 23 (8 weeks into WW).

My trip to Vegas showed me that I still have a lot to learn when it comes to making healthy decisions while eating out. Since joining WW, I have only eaten out maybe 5 or 6 times (compared to almost 2-3 times daily before WW) in a month and a half. I am very uncomfortable if I go to a restaurant and I haven't been able to retrieve any nutritional info of any of the dishes beforehand. I have played it safe since joining and have mainly cooked at home and packed my lunches and dinners for times I know I won't be home. But I do think that is the key to most of my success so far.

This weekend showed me that I'm not ready to eat out and the decisions I made did put the weight back on...and quickly at that. I am really going to have to learn the tricks of eating out because once I reach goal and am on maintenance, I just know I'll want to go out more with friends and stuff. If I'm not careful, I'll be back where I started in no time flat. And I will not let that happen! Anyway, that was what I learned from my day and a half away from the "safe zone." I don't want to do that again for awhile...

But I'm very grateful for my loss!

Hey Angela, eating out is by far my biggest challenge as well, it takes a lot the control away that you typically have at home. Is sounds like you made some great choices though! Losing after a Vegas trip is a huge feat in itself, congrats!
