As I said yesterday, C & I are taking a vacation over the
4th of July weekend to visit C's parents and family. They usually get together during the summer, and we missed out last year because of our
big trip to Hawaii with my family. C is excited for me to see where he grew up and hopefully we will be able to fit in a day trip to
Boston. I've always wanted to go there! It's actually a very short vacation, but I know it will be fun to get away from LA and work for a few days. Since I've already
met the family there isn't any pressure and I know I'll just be able to relax and have a good time!
Other things I want to do:
- eat a real lobster roll (considering I've never really had lobster, eating anything with lobster will probably count),
- try clam chowder (again, never had this),
- and eat Boston cream pie in Boston (is Bread & Chocolate any good?)!
Is it sad that my list revolves around food? If you really know me, then this is nothing new...
It's been many years since C was in Boston for college so things have certainly changed. I'd love to hear any recommendations of what you think I should include on my "Must Do (and Eat) while in Boston" list!

the cupcake shop sweet is fabulous! i've only been to the newbury st. location, but they also have shops in back bay and harvard square. so yummy! i would also highly recommend heading to the north end {little italy}. the restaurants are amazing and you have to shop and one of the pastry shops and get cannoli. HEAVEN!
Oh you are going to have so much fun!!! Can't wait to hear all about your trip and how much you love Boston Cream Pies. :)

Ok, so as a resident Bostonian I am here to give you all the details!
1. Bread & Chocolate is good, but it is not in Boston, so if you really want to do Boston Cream Pie in the city, try Finale in the Boston Park Plaza hotel. You can find BCP all over the place, but this one is exceptional!
2. Sweet Cupcakes are good and they have several locations around the city. 2 in the Back Bay, 1 in Cambridge, and 1 in Downtown Crossing (where all of the histroic stuff is)!
3. Walking around Cambridge is really fun. Its neat to see Harvard and Harvard Square, and the vibe is a bit more laid back than in the city. Border Cafe is a great stop for margaritas and chips, salsa and guac!
4. Fanuiel Hall is always packed with tourists this time of year, if you are into history its certainly worth visiting, but if the Revolutionary War isn't your thing you might want to skip it
5. The North End does have amazing Italian food, and delish pasteries, but if you are looking for New England style seafood you might want to consider The Barking Crab, or the infamous Union Oyster House
6. The Red Sox/Fenway Park, even if you aren't into baseball or don't want to go to a game, taking the walking tour of Fenway is really really cool! One of my all time favorite things I've ever done in the city (and I am not a baseball fan!)
7. The Duck Boats, another really fun tourist activity that is a great way to see the whole city. Its a land and sea tour and its really fun. These book up quickly though so I would recommend reservations if its something you are thinking about.
8. Beacon Hill, another section of the city that is much smaller and has a more neighborhood vibe. Lots of cute shops and some great food. Pizza from Figs and a sweet from Izzy's Curlycakes is the perfect way to spend an afternoon!

i absolutely adore boston. many of my friends from college live there and the city has a great feel to it! Have so much fun! And if you don't get a lobster roll there is an AMAZING food truck in LA called the lobsta truck that this new englander LOVES.

Shut up! I am SO jealous! You're going to have a blast! I can't think of anything more American than being in NE, and around Boston for the 4th! I went to Boston once and fell in love. Literally wanted to move. PLEASE post lots of pictures when you come back :)
P.S. I tried clam chowder for the first time in Boston. So good!

Boston is one of the cities I'd love to end up in. I adore the history everywhere! You must go to Boston Common and take a picture with the Make Way for Ducklings statue. I also adored touring Fenway. Have a blast! :)
