As usual, C and I had a lovely weekend! I feel so blessed that I have found someone that I can be so unbelievably content with, even when doing nothing!
After work on Friday, we ventured to Costco to pick up some things for dinner. It's amazing how busy Costco is, no matter what time of day you visit. It's a zoo! We had a lazy night in, grilling up some salmon fillets and watching TV.
On Saturday, we hit the gym to get a quick workout in, and then we loaded up our bikes and headed to Manhattan Beach! The weather was so nice! We grabbed lunch at North End Caffe, a place made famous by Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. C and I split an order of Kahlua Pig Monte Cristo Egg Rolls, which sound crazy, but they were amazing! We also shared a yummy turkey sandwich.
Lunch was just the fuel we needed for our bike ride along The Strand. I had never done this before, but it felt like the perfect Southern California activity! Everyone was on their beach cruisers, enjoying the beautiful summer day. It was awesome! We rode through Hermosa Beach, where we stopped to do a little shopping in the boutiques. We ended up in Redondo Beach, where we grabbed a beer at Najas Place before making the trek back up The Strand.
On Sunday, we were even more ambitious and decided to do a much longer bike ride, this time from Brentwood to Manhattan Beach. We parked near The Gold Club at Brentwood, and rode down into Santa Monica. Of course, I had to make a stop at Cabana and walked out with a darling pair of shorts that will be perfect for my upcoming vacation.
Once we got through Santa Monica, we were finally able to reach the bike path and start our beachside ride! The below picture shows the path The Strand takes.
We stopped to check out Venice Beach, where we found food trucks! Los Angeles is famous for their food trucks and I had yet to ever have anything off of one. C and I decided to get some snacks from Komodo, and it was delicious!
After our stop in Venice Beach, we continued down The Strand and went through Marina del Rey, Playa del Rey, and we finally stopped in Manhattan Beach to lay out and relax under the fading sun.
Getting back was tough! It was super windy and I was losing energy fast. Somehow [and I really don't know how], I made it back to the car in one piece! We ended up going nearly 36 miles on Sunday. Needless to say, I slept like a rock that night.
And there you have it, my weekend recap!

Makes me so jealous that you live there. I normally go to SoCal every year, and this is the first we won't be going. I love it there! 36 miles is incredible by the way, it definitely helps that you have the beautiful scenery!!
Ooh, I'm jealous! Your weekend sounds perfect and makes me want to get a bike! Once I move somewhere more conducive to biking, I may do just that!
Biking along the beach seems like is one of the first things that comes to mind when I think of Southern California! All of the food looks amazing, especially the egg rolls!
Wow! That almost sounds like a vacation :) I need some weekends like that!
So glad you had such a fun time.
I’m glad you and C had such a nice weekend! We don’t have a Costco nearby, but BJ’s is just like it and I swear it is always so crowed. A nice home cooked meal and night in on Friday sounds perfect.
Saturday and Sunday both sound like wonderful California days filled with sunshine, tasty food and fun. Your cruiser bike is so cute. I want to get one of those but we don’t have a lot of flat places to ride.
I cannot believe you rode 36 miles! That is impressive and it must have been so beautiful. I love being near the beach.
That is so cute that your bike has a little basket for any purchases you pick up along the way ;) XOXO
Sounds like a FAB weekend!! That food looks and sounds delish:)
Love your nre profile pic, pretty thang!
xxoo
You look so cute on your cruiser! I've been wanting one so badly lately.
P.S. I left you an award today!
What a perfect weekend! I haven't been on my bike in so long! Once I found out I was pregnant, my hubbs didn't want me riding very much (just in case) and then his bike was stolen off our patio!! Someday we'll get back to our beautiful days filled with bike rides along the beach, now with our baby girl! In the meantime, I'll enjoy your pictures and stories!
Sounds like a PERFECT weekend! Love that tank. So cute!
Woo, girl that is a long ride! I love that you are a foodie like me, I was at First Fridays in Venice last week digging in on those food trucks. Have you been to Chego yet?! I insist you try it!
Looks like a blast! Love the pic of you with the pretty background =)
When was your bday? Mine was the 5th. Happy belated birthday!
Pretty ridiculous, I have never been to any Cal beaches outside of the OC - been to the Santa Monica pier to eat at Bubba Gumps and walked around Venice, but never gone down by the sand/water. I need to get on it!
The food looks delish. The pictures are beautiful and I would love to have your bike!!
xo
Costco is nuts no matter when you go. I went yesterday over the noon hour, and it was so busy I didn't get a chance to eat my lunch when I got back to work. But I do love Costco!
