I'm so happy for a 4 day work week, but I have to admit that I have more to do this week, school-wise, than any other week before! I'll just have to be extra diligent with time management and I should be able to get it all done, *fingers crossed*!
Even though I really didn't need to, I did do some shopping this weekend. Everything I bought was on sale though so I didn't go over the allotted amount I set aside for Memorial Day weekend.
This Lilly dress is from the Rue La La sale a few weeks back. I am drawn to these bright and colorful patterns, especially patchwork prints, but I need to start focusing on more subtle Lilly pieces. I've found that most of my dresses are this way and it's hard to wear on an everyday basis without looking VERY out of place. I'm only speaking of myself in Los Angeles. If I were back home in Georgia I would wear these kinds of patterns every day without a second thought! But I do love this dress and the little pink pom poms on the hem and neckline are darling!
I finally broke down and purchased a couple of maxi dresses. My friend Danielle tried to convince me of the wonderful-ness of these dresses, but I wasn't sold. Since I'm short I knew that most of my options would have to be hemmed by a tailor. Let's just say I'm a procrastinator by nature and there's no way I would make it a priority to get a dress hemmed. BUT I was able to find two dresses that require no alterations!
This first one is from TJ Maxx. It's from the petite section - not sure the brand, but it is a fun and bright print perfect for summer. It's lightweight and SO comfortable! For around $20 I couldn't not buy it, right?!
This maxi dress is also quite colorful (seeing a pattern here?) and it's from Old Navy. It was on the clearance rack for just over $23. I would love to get some non-patterned dresses at some point this summer as well. So comfortable and an easy outfit to throw on and run out the door! Danielle, I'm sorry I doubted you!! I love these dresses!
Lastly, I had a chance to visit J Crew at the outlet mall yesterday. Oh my, it's hard to walk in this store and not buy everything I see. I restrained myself and only purchased a couple of items that I think will be key to my summer wardrobe! Plus I was able to receive the 15% off for showing my student discount! I knew there was a reason to be struggling through grad school!
Aren't the flowers on these flip flops too adorable?
This tank top is basic, but it was so soft and I loved the delicate ruffle trim at the neckline. So feminine!
Close up of the neckline.
I've already admitted my obsession with cardigans. I love the beautiful color of this one I bought. The short sleeves made it even more appealing because temperatures in the Valley can reach 115 degrees during the summer! The ribbon flower belt is so darling and I was inspired to buy it after I saw a mannequin accessorized with it in the store. Love it!
I just remembered that the giveaway for the Lauren Nicole necklace is officially closed! I will announce a winner soon!

I am going to have to check out the petite section because every maxi dress I have tried drags the ground and I'm too lazy to have it altered! Cute finds :)
How cute is that Lilly shift with the pom poms! How could you be out of place in California with that darling dress? Hey, I lived in Palm Springs and dressed like that!
Oh, these are SUPER fabulous!!!! We can be out of place TOGETHER! YEAH!
Lovin' the clothes. *sigh* I wish I had those stores here!
I love this lilly dress, not to mention those adorable flower flip flops!
Great stuff!! Im on a shopping hiatus until I can pay some bills!! xxooo
makes me want to do some on-line browsing right now!!
LOVE those flips and that cardigan...too cute!
We have VERY similar taste in clothes! I think you need to share more pieces from your wardrobe so I know where to shop :-) LOVE the shoes and pink tank from JCrew. I love the outlet mall. What was life like before it?
Love all your finds. They all will look smashing on you!
Have a fabulous day!
xxxx me
You are ready for summer. All fabulous. Always love seeing what you find! xoxo
You have found some gorgeous things! I"m the same way with Lilly, all of my pieces are the brightest most colorful patchwork patterns they offer it seems! I wouldn't want it any other way though! At least we'll always stand out in a crowd :)
What great finds!! I am headed to the J. Crew outlet tomorrow and I am SO excited! I hope I find some great stuff too!!
And your Lilly dress is so perfect!!! It looks like one of those dresses that will just make your day fabulous because you will feel so cute! :)
The flip flops and cardigan are so cute!
I loove the first dress- so much fun!
I have been wanting to try out a maxi dress also but not sure. I think they would be too long for me also, but mayne I need to try one on.
i think i'd like to raid your closet - especially that darling cardigan!!
I love maxi dresses too! I am only 5 foot though, and I'm afraid they would look silly on me, even if they did fit! My mom does alterations, so thats really never a problem. I'm just afraid that the long, flowy look would be ruined by my vertically challenged self :( How tall are you?
You got some great new additions to your wardrobe! Love all those dresses! :)
I love all of these fabulous additions to your wardrobe :) The blue and green maxi dress is so chic and I also love the sandals from J.Crew and blue cardigan with flower belt.
You've got great style!
Love all of your finds! I wish I had your fashion sense!! :)
Great finds! Dresses are the BEST in the summer. You can't have too many.
I love that little cardigan with the ribbon belt and the little flip flops. We have a JCrew outlet somewhere in my town but I've never been there...I'm going to investigate that today. I kind of share your feelings about maxi dresses. I've tried on a few in stores but the material is so thin that it shows too much! I will have to head out to TJ Maxx and see what they've got. I love your new additions!! ;)
TOO CUTE! I will take one of each please :)
I hate to say it (not really) but I told you so :)
