This bracelet is known as a "sailor's bracelet" because sailors used them to wipe their brows while swabbing decks or as a "friendship bracelet" because sailors brought them back for their sweethearts. He had one as well, so whenever we were apart and I was missing him all I'd have to do is look at my wrist and I was reminded that I was someone's sweetheart. I never took this bracelet off - it became so dirty over the months that I eventually had to remove it {just for appearance sake, as the condition was still good}.I was looking through the most recent Martha Stewart Living magazine and I was delighted to see the Nantucket Knotworks bracelet featured on one of the pages. While my bracelet wasn't this brand, I am so happy to have found the makers of the authentic Nantucket rope bracelet. I know that I will be ordering a pair of these for the bf and I so we can renew our matching bracelet tradition yet again.

I wore a white one every summer-we loved cutting them off in the fall (we'd always make a wish).
My girls now where them-we always purchase them first weekend of the summer on the Cape.
