Week 6: Weigh In

I had my Week 6 weigh in last night. If you read my previous post, you know that I was in Vegas for the weekend. Not a good place to be while you're on WW. Seriously, gluttony is synonymous with Vegas - interchangeable really. Oh well, I went and had a GREAT time! I chose what I thought to be the best options for my lifestyle - salads, sauerkraut, no alcohol, fresh fruits, egg white veggie omelet, etc...

I fared pretty well at WI with a loss of 0.8. Not great, but not too shabby either. I figure that I had lost 1.5 lbs before the trip and added a few ounces back, for the net loss of 0.8. I can't complain because a loss really is a loss!

I am super motivated to do really well this entire week so I can have a guilt free, moderate Valentine's dinner. I only have a {teensy} bit over 3 pounds left until I reach my 10% goal and I would love to see it reached by February 23 (8 weeks into WW).

My trip to Vegas showed me that I still have a lot to learn when it comes to making healthy decisions while eating out. Since joining WW, I have only eaten out maybe 5 or 6 times (compared to almost 2-3 times daily before WW) in a month and a half. I am very uncomfortable if I go to a restaurant and I haven't been able to retrieve any nutritional info of any of the dishes beforehand. I have played it safe since joining and have mainly cooked at home and packed my lunches and dinners for times I know I won't be home. But I do think that is the key to most of my success so far.

This weekend showed me that I'm not ready to eat out and the decisions I made did put the weight back on...and quickly at that. I am really going to have to learn the tricks of eating out because once I reach goal and am on maintenance, I just know I'll want to go out more with friends and stuff. If I'm not careful, I'll be back where I started in no time flat. And I will not let that happen! Anyway, that was what I learned from my day and a half away from the "safe zone." I don't want to do that again for awhile...

But I'm very grateful for my loss!

Another Chance at the Giveaway!

The grand prize winner of my giveaway has failed to contact me in time with her choice of prize.  This means that I am going to award the grand prize to irisdaisy3 (Emily), as she was the second runner up!  Emily has chosen the Yoga Booty Ballet!

But...I also have the magazine subscription to WW to give away as well, so here's the deal.  If you entered my first giveaway and didn't win AND you want the magazine subscription, leave me a comment on this post! Remember, you have to have entered my giveaway the first time a couple of weeks ago!  The first person to leave a comment wins the subscription!

Please email me at scandrettangela@yahoo.com immediately, with your address so I can get your subscription ordered ASAP!

Update:  I haven't heard from anyone yet!  There are a lot of people looking though, and I have to assume that at least one is someone who entered the giveaway the first time!  THERE ARE NO STRINGS ATTACHED!  If you want the magazine subscription, just be the first to leave a comment :)

Whew..what a weekend!

I'm back from Vegas!  I always forget the toll the drive takes on you.  Even though it is only 4 hours or so, on the way there it was POURING rain the first half so it took a lot longer than normal.  Then on the way back it was incredibly windy so we had to drive a little more cautiously than normal.  But anyway, the trip was fun and it was great to see my dad for the weekend.  He was there on business and was staying at the Hilton Grand Vacations Club in a suite.  It was awesome!  Troy lived in Vegas before moving to LA and I've been there a lot too.  My parents actually surprised me on my 21st birthday by taking me and two friends there!  So we're familiar with the area, but it's always so fun to go back and gamble a little, eat at the buffets, etc...

On Saturday we went to eat lunch at Hooters Casino (my dad had a gift certificate) and we gambled there for a while...I lost around $35 or so.  We ate dinner at Hofbrauhaus which is always a fun time.  This morning we ate at the Harrah's breakfast buffet and decided to gamble a little more.  Dad gave me $40 and I was playing the penny machines (those are my fave).  I won like $50 and decided to cash out while I was ahead.  Then I wanted to take my other $20 and play roulette.  That is so nervewracking, but I ended up $20 up - I have intuition, what can I say?!

Anyway, I decided to take that $20 and play a few more slots.  I landed at a Price is Right nickel machine and hit the bonus game on max met - I won over $200!  It was amazing!  So with my combined winnings from the morning, I decided to buy a Coach purse that I've been wanting for a while!  I mean, it was free money so I don't really feel too badly for spending it on such a big splurge.  I'll post a pic soon too!!

As for my "lifestyle change" this weekend...I honestly was pretty good the entire time with my food choices.  It was incredibly difficult, but I think I did the best I could.  I'm not used to eating out, so I still don't know the best options to choose.  The hotel had a really nice gym so Troy and I went on both Saturday and Sunday and worked out for an hour each day.  So that kinda combats any bad eating decision I might have made...

I'm hoping at WI tomorrow I at least maintain my 10 pound loss.  We'll see!  Either way, I had a great time and I'm glad I allowed myself to have fun!  So if I don't lose, that's too bad but there is always next week :)

Laugh Out Loud Friday

Note for today - regardless of what size you may be today or how you view yourself in the mirror, be confident in who you are.  For us that are trying to lose, you have made the best decision of your life by choosing the Weight Watchers lifestyle.  You should be so proud of yourselves!  The first step is often the toughest, but each step after gets a little easier :)

I hope that everyone has a happy day!  Have a great weekend too :)

Don't forget that tomorrow...

...Taylor Swift tickets go on sale!

She will be performing at Staples Center on May 22!

I have been obsessed with her latest CD since it came out and I love her older stuff too!  I'm basically writing this to remind myself to go online at 10 am PST to get my ticket :)

And to remind you to get your ticket too if you're a Taylor fan like me!

*Update - I got online at 10:04 am to buy my ticket, but the show was already sold out...in the first 2 minutes!  Unbelievable.  Guess I'll be looking on EBay*
