Thursday Update!

Typically, Thursdays are my favorite day of the week, but for the next 8 weeks I will be sitting in Strategic Staffing from 6:30 until 10 pm. Not my idea of fun! Ha!

Do any of you watch Toddlers and Tiaras?! I never thought I would be hooked on a show like this, but I love it {most of the time}. I really do think that pageants can give young girls self-esteem and confidence so I can see why parents may want their kids to do them. But there are some parents that are featured on the show that go so overboard and it makes you feel bad for the kids, especially when you can see it on their faces that they know their parents aren't satisfied. I think it was this earlier this season when twin sisters were featured and the mother clearly favored one over the other {I was crying for the poor girl that the mom didn't like, it was so sad} and I really didn't like seeing that. But last night's episode was so cute with the "Sparkle Sisters" and they were so sweet to each other and seemed genuinely happy to be doing pageants together. And their mom was so cute as well and proud of all of them. Any of you watch this series?!

Yesterday I returned home from work to find a BIG box from my Prep for Fall Swap partner, Megs. I had so much fun and Megs was a great swap partner. Look at all the wonderful stuff she sent me - stationery, kitchen towels, soap, a loofah, hot tea, a candle, and the cutest flower ring. And it all came in the best green basket that will look great in front of my fireplace holding the dog's toys.

Thanks again Megs for being a great swap partner and also Hopsy for hosting such a fun swap!

I'm looking forward to the Labor Day holiday! I am mostly excited for Tuesday though because my MOM is coming to visit!! I haven't seen any of my family since my brother's wedding in early May, so this visit is long overdue. I wish my Daddy-o could come too, but someone has to keep an eye on the four {fur}babies they have. Mom's visit has two purposes though: 1) to visit her favorite daughter {duh!} and 2) to help me make 100 regular size and 200 miniature cupcakes for a wedding I'm catering. I don't think I've mentioned on my blog yet that I'm doing this job, but I am excited and nervous for it. Mom and I will be in the kitchen for the first part of her visit, but we'll reward ourselves with a yummy dinner and a trip to the day spa over the weekend!

Well, this is turning into quite the long post! I better stop now before I lose all of you :)

Yes I fully admit to watching Toddler and Tiaras! I think most of the moms are rediculous, but every once in awhile you see a decent family like last night.

Could you believe the mom with those twin girls...I felt so bad for the one. Does her mom not realize they may watch this show one day and hear all the horrible, ugly things she said!

I watched T&T last night for the first time and thought it was so funny. I could not believe the amount of money these people spent on shoes, hair, makeup, dresses, crazy!!! I wonder if they will look back at the show and think, what the hell was I thinking! ;)

What a great swap package. That's so sweet of your mom to be helping you. I love baking and have thought about catering and doing stuff like that for fun in the past. I'm so happy you were able to get this job. Hope it all goes swimmingly. Enjoy your long weekend. :)

I love that show, sometimes it's a great one other times I feel bad for the girls. Overall, it seems to give the girls a huge self-esteem boost :)

I watch T&T's. I think they can be creepy at times, but different things for different families. At least they are raising some confident and outgoing little ladies. I see many of those girls being HUGE successes in life.

I watched that episode last night. I thought those sisters were so cute and sweet. Most of the time though I am appalled!

Toddlers and Tiaras is sort of one of those shows I thought I would have no interest in but I just can't tear myself away from it. I agree with your take on it, it can be a positive experience but some of these parents go way overboard.

Every time I tape Toddlers and Tiaras my husband deletes it off the DVR, so no I still haven't seen it. He says that if someone saw that on our DVR they would think we were pedifiles- he's an idiot!

Oh mercy, the last thing I need is another reality TV show to be addicted to :) I hate night class, I took a few courses in college that went from 6:30pm - 9:30 pm and it was the worst, all I could think about was being at home and doing my normal evening stuff... and this time of year it's really tough b/c you'll go to class when it's still daylight and it'll be dark when you get done, yucky! I feel for you there...

I love all your swap package goodies! Swaps are so fun.

Angela, I'm so sorry I haven't emailed you yet. On Friday night, I'm wearing a dress. I brought 2 to pick from. One is blue with little white dots and the other is a white halter with a floral print. What are you wearing?

so happy you love your swap items!! I thought the pumpkin candle and apple tea were very "fally".
And I love that olive oil soap when it's cold outside! (figured you'd need the loofah to go along with it!)
i wore my pony tail tie today and got many compliments! Thanks again for everything you sent!

I used to watch Toddlers & Tiaras religiously, it can be a bit addicting. I haven't watched very much of the current season, mainly because its on the same time as Top Chef, but do consider it quite a guilty pleasure

I've never watched Toddlers & Tiaras...but, just the name definitely reminds me of some "Wee Ones Pageants" I've attended in the South. These parents are possessed with winning!
